Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy [HBOT]
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is the medical use of oxygen in a pressurized environment or ‘pressure vessel' at a level higher than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA). Increased pressure allows for oxygen to dissolve and saturate the blood plasma (independent of hemoglobin/red blood cells), which yields a broad variety of positive physiological, biochemical and cellular effects. This noninvasive therapy is the most trusted way to increase oxygen levels to all organs of the body. The typical treatment lasts 60-90 minutes, during which the patient lies or sits down and breathes normally.
HBOT has been demonstrated in several clinical studies to enhance the body’s innate ability to repair and regenerate. It is used as an adjunct therapy to complement and enhance the healing process in both chronic and acute conditions.

At a constant temperature, the amount of a gas that dissolves in a volume of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid
Pressure is required for a gas (oxygen) to effectively dissolve into a liquid (blood plasma). In a hyperbaric chamber, greater levels of oxygen are able to penetrate deep into the tissues of the body.
At constant, temperature, the volume of a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure and the density of a gas is directly proportional to the pressure
As pressure in the chamber increases, the size of oxygen molecules decrease, creating a denser oxygen environment. Oxygen molecules in the alveolus (lung membrane) become more concentrated and make it possible for more oxygen molecules to be transferred to the blood by diffusion, which saturates the blood plasma.
Step #1. Initial consult with Nurse Practitioner to determine safety, and appropriateness of HBOT for you
Step #2. If it is determined that HBOT is right for you, a script is sent directly to the HBOT facility, Health Essentials Hyperbaric Oxygen on site.
Step #3. You will then contact the HBOT facility to discuss scheduling and pricing for your sessions.
Step # 4. Schedule a follow-up visit for re-evaluation with the Nurse Practitioner.
**If you’re not a candidate for HBOT for any medical reason, other treatment modalities such as Ozone/IVs may be offered. For the most part, few people will be unable to use HBOT due to very specific medical conditions.
